Things To See/Do in Gerona
It’s easy to see why Gerona is such a big hit both for city breaks and summer vacations. The city boasts excellent cultural and historical attractions as well as long sandy beaches, pine forests and charming fishing villages. A walking tour is the best way to explore what the city has to offer in terms of interesting sights. The northern edge of the city is a good place to begin. Following the ancient Roman city wall, you’re guaranteed spectacular views of the city’s rooftops and church spires. Walking downhill from here, it’s possible to visit the pretty old quarter, where the star attraction is undoubtedly the baroque cathedral. Building on the church began in the 13th century and it contains some superb gothic architecture, as well as ornate Romanesque cloisters. The Banys Árabs Arab baths are situated close by and are also worth a visit.
