Dublin restaurants have improved immensely over the last decade.  VAT is usually included in the price of a meal and there is normally a service charge of 12.5% which is also usually added to restaurant bills, even though many diners add a discretionary tip of around 5% to 10% of the bill.  If service is not included, a tip of between 12.5% and 15% is usually given.  Credit cards are freely accepted in most restaurants too.
